In October 2013, the Chinese project partners sent representatives for conducting a two-day investigation of China’s shiprecycling industry. The following four enterprises, who can be considered as most representative for the sector in China, were selected in the course of the investigation:  The Jiangyin Xiagang Changjiang Ship Recycling facility, Tianjin Tianma Shiprecycling Engineering Ltd., The Jingjiang City New People’s Ship Recycling Ltd. and Zhoushan Changhong International Ship Reprocessing and Reuse Ltd. The enterprises are important starting points for joint collaboration and conducting Material Flow Analyses.

In the following report China’s ship recycling development process and status-quo will be introduced as it deals with aspects of actual recycling capacities of the ship recyclers, recycling technology and equipment, management and disposal of wastes from ship dismantling.
