In October 2014 the data collection for the material flow analyses (MFAs) has started. Twenty-one Chinese ship recycling facilities were selected to participate in the MFAs and first results are expected at the beginning of 2015.

The reports on best practices in ship recycling in EU and PRC are finished and can be downloaded on the section on best practices in the respective sub-section.

End of February 2014 the project was invited to participate in a stakeholder workshop held in Brussels. The General Directorate Environment invited international stakeholders in order to discuss the technical guidance notes to be published in mid-2014. These notes shall bring more detailed information and help in interpretation of the EU Ship Recycling Regulation that entered into force at the end of 2013. The project consortium is in direct contact with this stakeholder platform, the General Directorate Environment and the International Ship Recycling Association that supported the project also in the EU excursion planning.
